Why deadlines matter…

Ever notice how work magically expands to fill whatever time we give it?

That’s Parkinson’s Law in action, my friends. And let me tell you, it’s a sneaky little bugger.

Give yourself a week to write a blog post? Boom – it takes a week. Give yourself two hours? Done in two hours. It’s like your tasks are secretly plotting against your free time.

I learned this the hard way when I kept giving myself “plenty of time” to get things done. Spoiler alert: I wasn’t more productive. I was just stretching simple tasks into marathon sessions.

Here’s the wild part – our brains actually love deadlines. They’re like productivity cattle prods for our procrastinating minds. Without them, we drift like a boat without a rudder.

Think about it. When was the last time you crushed a project way ahead of schedule? Probably right before a deadline, am I right?

This is why some of the most successful entrepreneurs I know set ridiculous deadlines for themselves.

So, I have a challenge for you…

On your next project try setting a deadline and cutting your usual project time in half. You’ll be amazed at what happens when you light a fire under your own behind.

P.S. Speaking of getting more done in less time…

This is exactly what we focus on in The Extraordinary Entrepreneur Community. We’re all about working smarter, not longer. Because let’s face it – life’s too short to let work expand indefinitely.
