I used to think being “hard to reach” made me look important. What a joke that was.
You know what else is ridiculous? Bragging about being “the best-kept secret” in your industry. Like seriously, who wants their business to be a secret? That’s about as smart as a mime doing podcast interviews.
And don’t get me started on people who brag about not sending enough emails. That’s like being proud of not talking to your customers. Would you brag about ignoring your spouse? (If you answered yes, we need to have a different conversation…)
Then there’s my personal favorite – being available 24/7. Congrats on having zero boundaries and burning yourself out faster than a candle in a hurricane! That’s not a badge of honor. That’s a one-way ticket to Burnoutville, population: you.
Here’s the truth: Real success isn’t about being unavailable, secretive, or running yourself into the ground. It’s about showing up consistently, being visible, and creating systems that work while you sleep.
But hey, I get it. This stuff isn’t obvious when you’re starting out. We all make these mistakes. I sure did.
That’s exactly why I created The Extraordinary Entrepreneur Community. It’s where you’ll learn what actually matters in business (spoiler alert: it’s not being a “secret”). Plus, you’ll get the support you need to build something sustainable without losing your mind.
Want to stop collecting these backward badges of honor? Come join us. We’ll show you what real business success looks like – no secrets required.
Here’s to setting boundaries, creating systems, and sending more emails!
