Do you know what’s worse than being broke? Being broke AND exhausted. How’s been there? I know I have!
Two weeks ago, I worked with a client who had hit that wall. You know the look—the one where they feel like they’ve run out of options but still need results yesterday. And let’s face it, the money machine doesn’t stop just because you’re tired. (If only it worked like Netflix, right?)
So, I did what any good coach would do. I made a list of quick revenue boosters that wouldn’t require a ton of work to implement. I called them “I’m-too-tired-to-function” money moves. And today, I’m sharing what made the cut with you.
But here’s the thing: we entrepreneurs tend to overcomplicate things. We spend so much time trying to make everything perfect or chasing shiny new strategies that we forget we have one of the most powerful advantages out there—we can turn on the money machine anytime we want to.
If you’re working a 9-to-5 job, you’re stuck trading time for dollars. If you need extra cash, your options are limited:
- Overtime (if your boss even allows it).
- Hoping for a raise or bonus (which can take months—or years).
- Taking on a second job (and burning yourself out even faster).
That stinks.
But as an entrepreneur, you don’t have to wait for permission to earn more. You own the money machine! Need to increase your cash flow? You can make it happen today. That’s one of the primary reasons I personally chose the entrepreneurial path over 30 years ago. I could not imagine a life where I was limited to trading my time for a capped paycheck or relying on someone else to decide my worth.
And that’s the thing I reminded my client. I think sometimes, as entrepreneurs, we can get stuck in our heads. We overthink, second-guess ourselves, and complicate things. If you truly need to make money quickly, then focus on simple, proven strategies that get results. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel or build something brand-new. Keep it simple. Don’t complicate it.
And that’s what I’m going to share with you today. A list of quick revenue boosters—simple, actionable steps you can take right now, even if you’re exhausted.
Ok, are you ready? Let’s turn on the money machine.
Revenue Booster #1: 9 Word Email
What it is:
A re-engagement email created by Dean Jackson designed to spark interest and start conversations. It’s short, sweet, and effective.
Here’s the template:
“Hey [First Name], are you still interested in [specific service/offer]?”
Let me give you a few examples:
- Hey Sarah, are you still interested in growing your coaching business?
- Hey John, are you still interested in reaching your weight loss goals?
- Hey Lisa, are you still interested in getting more clients through your website?
See how easy that is?
Why These Work (and Why You Should Do It):
- Easy to Read:
Most people skim their emails. This one gets straight to the point and is impossible to ignore. - Opens the Dialogue Back Up:
You’re not hard-selling; you’re simply starting a conversation. This feels low-pressure for the recipient, which increases the likelihood they’ll reply. - Targets Warm Leads Who Might Just Need a Nudge:
These are people who already expressed interest in what you offer. Life happens—they may have forgotten, gotten busy, or just needed a little reminder. - Doesn’t Feel Spammy or Pushy:
It’s personal, tailored, and doesn’t scream “sales pitch.” Most people respond positively to messages that feel like a genuine check-in. - Takes Almost No Time:
This isn’t complicating things and creating a huge funnel or running ads. You can craft and send this email in minutes. - What’s the Worst That Could Happen?
They don’t reply. That’s it. No harm, no foul. But when they do reply? That’s a lead you’ve just reactivated with almost zero effort.
Here’s Your Action Plan:
Send this out to every person on your email list who hasn’t purchased something from you before. Don’t send this to past or current clients—we’ve got a different strategy for those folks.
If you don’t have an email list, don’t worry. Use this same concept for messages on LinkedIn, DMs on Instagram or Facebook, or even text messages for leads you’ve spoken to before. The key is to reach out—because doing nothing guarantees no response.
Revenue Booster #2: The Lowest Hanging Fruit (aka Past Clients)
What it is:
Nothing fancy here. Just a quick “Hey, I was thinking of you. How are you?” And wait for the responses to open up the conversation. They will almost always respond back to you within a day or so.
Why This Works (and Why You Should Do It):
- They Already Trust You:
Unlike new leads, past clients have already experienced your work. This means there’s no “cold pitch” involved—you’re simply reigniting a relationship that’s already built on trust. - You Know Their Needs:
Because you’ve worked with them before, you’re familiar with their goals and pain points. This allows you to tailor your message and offer to what they truly need, making it more likely they’ll say yes. - They’re Likely to Buy Again:
It’s far more cost-effective to sell to an existing or past client than to acquire a new one. Studies show that repeat customers spend more and are more likely to convert. - It Strengthens the Relationship:
Even if they don’t buy right now, reaching out keeps you top of mind. When they’re ready for your services again, you’ll be the first person they think of. - It’s Low Effort with High ROI:
Reconnecting with past clients doesn’t require elaborate campaigns or complicated tech. A personal message or thoughtful gesture is often all it takes.
Here’s Your Action Plan:
Send this out to every person who was a client of yours in the past.
Revenue Booster #3: The Easy Upgrade (aka Current Clients)
What it is:
“The Easy Upgrade” is about offering your current clients an enhanced version of what they’re already getting—a premium add-on, upsell, or exclusive benefit that aligns with their needs and adds more value to their experience. This strategy leverages the trust you’ve already built to increase revenue without having to find new prospects that you need to nurture into clients.
Here’s the template:
- “Hey [name], I’m offering a [upgrade offer] to [specific outcome]. Would you be interested in chatting more about it?”
BTW, if you’re listening to this live and want to get a copy of these templates, just go to www.mistykortes.com/live-calls, and you can copy and paste the templates and rewatch the call.
Here are a few examples:
1. Business Coaching:
Hey Sarah, I’m offering a 90-minute VIP session to map out your next 90 days and create a clear action plan to hit your goals faster. Would you be interested in chatting more about it?
2. Health & Wellness Coaching:
Hey John, I’m creating personalized meal plans to help my clients lose weight faster and stick to their fitness goals. Would you be interested in chatting more about it?
3. Marketing Services:
Hey Lisa, I’m offering a monthly retainer service for ongoing marketing support to help you keep your campaigns running smoothly and drive more sales. Would you be interested in chatting more about it?
This is a message I’ve actually used in my business. One time, I sent this email out to 10 people and had 3 of them upgrade – that was a $54,000 annual revenue boost for my business!
4. Membership or Subscription Services:
Hey Mark, I’m introducing a VIP tier to my membership that includes a 1:1 strategy session every month and access to premium content. Would you be interested in chatting more about it?
Why This Works (and Why You Should Do It):
- Existing Clients Are Your Warmest Audience:
They already know, like, and trust you. Selling to an existing client is easier (and more cost-effective) than acquiring a new one. - Clients Appreciate More Value:
If you’ve delivered results for them, they’re likely to be open to investing in additional services or enhancements that further support their goals. - It’s Personalized and Low Effort:
You’re not pitching a generic offer to strangers. Instead, you’re creating something specific to their needs, which makes it feel more relevant and valuable.
Here’s Your Action Plan:
Again, super simple. Send an email or text message out to current clients with your upgrade offer.
Revenue Booster #4: The End-of-Year Adjustment
What it is:
“The End-of-Year Adjustment” is a strategic way to implement a price increase while positioning it as a natural step for your business. By notifying clients at the end of the year, you take advantage of the timing when people are accustomed to changes, such as new budgets, contracts, and rates.
Why This Works (and Why You Should Do It):
- Timing Is Everything:
The end of the year is ideal for introducing a price increase because clients are already planning for the next year. It feels natural and less jarring. - Costs Have Gone Up—And Clients Know It:
Inflation, higher operating costs, and market trends make price increases expected. Most clients understand this and are more receptive to it when explained clearly. - It Positions You as a Professional:
Regular price adjustments reflect the growing value of your services. It shows that you’re serious about your business and staying competitive. - It’s a Revenue Booster with No Extra Work:
Raising prices for existing clients immediately boosts your bottom line without requiring new clients or additional offers.
Why You Shouldn’t Combine This with an Easy Upgrade:
Sending both a price increase and an upsell at the same time could overwhelm your clients or give the impression that you’re too focused on money. Choose one approach for the end of the year to maintain trust and goodwill.
Email Template: “End-of-Year Update”
Subject Line: Service Updates for 2025
Body:
Hi [Client’s Name],
As we approach the end of the year, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for trusting me with [specific service/product]. It’s been such a pleasure working with you and seeing [specific positive result or progress].
Like many businesses, I’ve experienced rising costs for [specific materials/tools/time], and after careful consideration, I’ve decided to adjust my rates to continue providing you with the same high-quality service you’ve come to expect.
Starting on [date, e.g., January 1, 2025], my rates will increase to [new rate or percentage increase]. I wanted to give you plenty of notice so you can plan accordingly.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss this change, I’m happy to chat. Your success and satisfaction are always my top priorities, and I’m committed to continuing to help you achieve [specific client goal or benefit].
Thank you for your continued partnership—I’m looking forward to an amazing 2025 together!
Warmly,
[Your Name]
Why This Email Works:
- It’s Grateful: Starting with gratitude reinforces the relationship and softens the news.
- It’s Transparent: Explaining why rates are increasing builds trust and credibility.
- It’s Professional: Giving advance notice shows respect for your clients’ planning and budgeting.
- It Invites Questions: Offering to chat signals openness and care, reducing resistance.
Action Plan:
- Decide on the New Rates:
Review your pricing structure and calculate a reasonable increase based on your costs and market trends. - Set a Start Date:
Choose a date (e.g., January 1) to implement the new rates and communicate it clearly. - Personalize the Emails:
Customize your email template with specific references to your relationship with each client. - Send It Out:
Aim to send the email at least 30-45 days before the rate change to give clients time to adjust. - Follow Up if Necessary:
Be prepared to answer questions or address concerns. Most clients will understand, but having a conversation can ease the transition for those who don’t.
Wrapping Up
And there you have it—four “I’m-too-tired-to-function” revenue boosters that can increase your bottom line fast. These strategies are simple, effective, and designed to help you make more money without adding to your overwhelm.
If you’re the type of person who is listening to this and an action taker, send me a message to share your results. I love hearing your wins, no matter how big or small.
So here’s how the call with my client unfolded. They initially jumped on a call feeling stuck and discouraged, unsure of how to move forward. They were emotionally beaten down and visibly tired and worn out. They felt hopeless. But by the end of our session, they felt inspired, clear, and ready to take actionable steps to boost their revenue.
It reminded me how important it is to have support like this—someone to bounce ideas off of, share a fresh perspective, and give you actionable tools when you need them most. That’s exactly what we do inside the Extraordinary Entrepreneurs Community. It’s not just me sharing strategies—it’s also a place for training, resources, and the kind of encouragement you can only get from a group of people who really get it.
If that sounds like something you’d want to be part of, I’d love to have you join us. I’ll drop the link in the comments so you can check it out.
And with that, I’ll see you again next week. 😊
