Imagine starting 2025 with absolute clarity, knowing exactly where your business is headed and how to get there—no guesswork, no overwhelm, just a rock-solid plan to turn your goals into reality. Ready to make it happen? Well, today, we are going to talk about crafting a marketing plan that works.
Here’s the thing—most entrepreneurs head into the new year with big dreams but no real plan. They kind of wing it, hoping things will just work out. Sound familiar? Without a clear roadmap, it’s easy to feel like you’re spinning your wheels, throwing spaghetti at the wall, and crossing your fingers that something sticks. But let’s be real—hope isn’t a strategy, and you deserve more than a business that’s just drifting wherever the wind takes it.
But don’t worry—this is exactly why we’re here. The first step to creating a plan that works is setting a clear revenue goal. Why? Because your goal is what drives everything else. It’s like picking a destination on a map—once you know where you’re headed, it’s so much easier to figure out the best route to get there. Without that goal, you’re just wandering. So, let’s start by getting crystal clear on your revenue goal for 2025, because the goal determines the path.
Review Your Current Revenue
- Start by looking at your total revenue from the past year.
- Break it down by month to identify trends—was there seasonality or growth in specific periods?
- Divide your total gross revenue by the number of clients you worked with, this gives you your ACV (average customer value.)
2. Decide on Your Growth Target
- Ask yourself: How much do you want to grow? Meaning, how much gross revenue do you want to generate in 2025?
- Most people will pick a number between 20 – 50% growth. I recently read a book called ‘10x is easier than 2x’ by Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy, and it completely blew my mind.
- The idea behind the book is this: aiming for 10x growth is actually easier than going for 2x. I know that sounds wild, but here’s why—it forces you to stop doing all the little things that aren’t working and really focus on what you’re amazing at. Instead of trying to tweak and hustle your way to 2x growth, you start thinking bigger, making smarter decisions, and building something truly game-changing.
- It’s all about your mindset. If you’re stuck thinking small, you’ll keep playing small. But when you believe that 10x is possible, everything shifts. You start asking better questions, taking bolder steps, and cutting out the stuff that’s holding you back.
- I honestly can’t recommend this book enough. It’s one of those reads that gets you fired up and rethinking everything about how you set goals. The way they explain it is so clear and actionable—it’s just better to hear it directly from the book.
- If you’re serious about growing your business and breaking through to the next level, grab a copy of 10x is Easier Than 2x. Trust me, it’ll change how you look at your goals and how you go after them.
3. Take Inventory Of Current Offers And Factor In New Revenue Streams
- Start by looking at what you’re already offering. What’s working? What’s bringing in the most revenue?
- Think about anything new you’re planning to launch—maybe it’s a course or a new service.
- If there are offers that just aren’t performing, it might be time to let them go so you can focus on the things that really move the needle.
4. Align Your Revenue Goal with the Number of Sales You Need
- Once you have your revenue goal and you’ve taken stock of your offers, it’s time to break it down into manageable pieces.
- Start by listing each product, program, or service you plan to offer in 2025. Write down their price points next to them.
- Then, divide your revenue goal by the price of each offer to figure out how many sales you’d need to hit your goal.
- For example, if your goal is $100,000 and one of your offers is priced at $2,000, you’d need to sell 50 of that offer to reach your goal.
- Do this for all your offers so you can see how each one contributes to the bigger picture.
Mix It Up for Balance
- Not every offer will carry equal weight, and that’s okay. Some might be your bread and butter, while others are smaller add-ons that help you hit your numbers.
- For instance, maybe your high-ticket program only needs 10 clients to make a big dent in your goal, while a smaller product needs 100 sales to add up.
- This also helps you see where your efforts should go—do you need to focus on selling more of your high-ticket offers or creating scalable options for lower-priced products?
- Also, think about adjustments you can make, like raising prices, bundling offers, or focusing on fewer but higher-impact services.
Work Backward from the Numbers
- Once you know the number of sales you need for each offer, you can reverse-engineer your marketing and sales strategy.
- For example, if you need 20 clients for your coaching program, how many discovery calls do you need to book?
- Or if you want to sell 100 courses, how many leads do you need to generate, and what conversion rate should you aim for?
Breaking it down like this makes your revenue goal feel way more achievable—it’s no longer this big, scary number but a series of smaller, actionable targets tied directly to your offers.
4. Write It Down And Review It Daily
- Put your revenue goal in writing—it’s more likely to stick if you make it official.
- Keep it somewhere visible to remind you of what you’re working toward.
- Turn It Into a Visual Reminder—create a physical or digital vision board with your revenue goal front and center. Add images, words, or quotes that represent what achieving this goal will mean for your life and business.
- Track Progress Regularly—break your goal into smaller monthly or quarterly milestones so you can see how you’re progressing. And celebrate small wins along the way.
- Turn It Into an Affirmation—phrase your goal as if it’s already happening, such as, “I’m so excited to have hit $500,000 in revenue this year!” Repeat this to yourself daily to reinforce your belief in achieving it. But then back it up with ACTION.
- Pair It with a Plan—your revenue goal is your destination, but it needs a roadmap. Write out the actions you need to take daily, weekly, and monthly to make it happen, and keep those alongside your goal.
This leads me to the next thing in the planning process…
Once you’ve got your revenue goal locked in and a plan to stay focused on it daily, it’s time to shift gears and think about how you’re going to get there.
And here’s the thing—if you’re not making a million dollars a year (yet), there are three key areas you need to prioritize to move the needle:
- Attract Attention
- Capture Leads
- Convert Leads Into Customers
These are the building blocks of any successful business, and they work together to create the momentum you need to hit those big goals.
Let’s break down each of these together.
Attract Attention
The first step to growing your business and hitting your revenue goals is simple: you have to get noticed. If people don’t know who you are or what you do, they can’t buy from you. Attracting attention isn’t just about showing up—it’s about showing up in the right places and making a strong impression. Let’s explore some of the most effective ways to attract attention and how to make them work for you:
1. Social Media
- Be Consistent: Choose 1-2 platforms where your audience is most active and commit to showing up regularly.
- Create Value: Share tips, insights, behind-the-scenes content, or even your story to connect with your audience.
- Leverage Trends: Use trending formats like Reels, Stories, or TikToks to increase visibility.
- Engage: Reply to comments, DM new followers, and join conversations in your niche to build relationships.
2. Speaking
- Position Yourself as an Expert: Host workshops, speak on panels, or present at conferences where your ideal audience is present.
- Virtual Events: Webinars and online summits are great platforms for reaching a wider audience without travel.
- Offer Value: When you speak, focus on providing actionable insights that leave a lasting impression.
3. Ads
- Start Small: Platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Google Ads allow you to start with a small budget and scale as you see results.
- Be Targeted: Use detailed targeting to reach your ideal customer and avoid wasting money on broad audiences.
- Test and Optimize: Test different headlines, images, and offers to find what resonates with your audience.
4. Partnerships
- Collaborate with Others: Partner with businesses or influencers that share your audience but offer complementary products or services.
- Co-Host Events: Team up for webinars, giveaways, or live events to expand your reach.
- Cross-Promotion: Share each other’s content, newsletters, or social media posts to introduce your brand to new people.
5. Referrals
- Leverage Happy Customers: Ask your satisfied clients to refer you to others.
- Offer Incentives: Create a referral program that rewards clients for sending new business your way.
- Build a Reputation: Deliver exceptional service so referrals happen naturally.
6. Podcasting
- Start Your Own: Share your expertise, interview guests, and create a platform to connect with your audience.
- Be a Guest: Pitch yourself to other podcasts in your niche to reach new listeners and establish authority.
- Provide a Hook: Always offer listeners a next step, like downloading a free resource or following you on social media.
7. Email
- Leverage Your List: Use email marketing to consistently share valuable content, updates, and offers.
- Engage Your Audience: Personalize your emails and make them conversational to keep readers interested.
- Grow Your List: Attract attention by offering lead magnets like free guides or templates.
8. Networking
- Attend Events: Show up at industry meetups, conferences, or community gatherings where your ideal clients are.
- Build Relationships: Focus on making genuine connections, not just pitching your services.
- Follow-up: Keep the conversation going after the event—send a quick email or message to stay on their radar.
- Evaluate the ROI of Networking: Be mindful of the results you’re getting from your networking efforts. Many entrepreneurs start with weekly meetings because they’re inexpensive and easy, but ask yourself—are they actually producing leads or clients? If not, it might be time to reevaluate. This applies to all marketing activities: if you’re not seeing results, either stop doing it or analyze why it’s not working. Maybe the audience isn’t right, your messaging needs adjustment, or the approach itself could use a tweak. Be intentional about where you spend your time and energy.
Remember, attracting attention is the gateway to everything else in your marketing plan. It’s not just about being visible—it’s about showing up in a way that creates curiosity, builds trust, and makes people want to learn more about you and what you offer.
Now that you’re attracting attention and getting in front of the right audience, it’s time to take the next step: capturing leads. Because let’s be real—visibility is great, but it’s what you do with that attention that makes the difference.
Let’s dive into the top strategies for capturing leads and explore how you can use them to turn interest into action.
Interactive Content
Interactive content is such a game-changer when it comes to engaging your audience and capturing leads. It’s all about giving people something they can do, like taking a quiz, using a calculator, completing an assessment, or even trying out an AI tool. These aren’t just fun for your audience—they’re incredibly effective for grabbing attention and getting their contact info. Think about it: someone fills out a quiz to find their business personality or uses a calculator to see how much they can save with your service, and boom—you’ve not only helped them but also brought them into your world.
If you’re ready to dive in, here are a few tools that make creating this type of content a breeze:
- Thrive Themes: This one’s awesome for building quizzes and forms right on your website, so you can engage visitors and capture their details without any tech headaches.
- Envato: Need templates to make your tools look professional and polished? Envato has tons of creative assets to help you make everything visually stunning.
- FormWise: Perfect if you want to create calculators or assessments. It’s super easy to set up, and your audience gets instant, personalized results—while you get their email.
These tools make it so simple to create something that’s not only fun for your audience but also super effective at turning curiosity into leads. Trust me, once you start using interactive content, you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner!
AI Chatbots
- Social Buzz Bot
- You’ve probably seen these on platforms like Instagram or Facebook—they answer questions, share links, or direct people to freebies. It’s like having a mini sales assistant working 24/7.
- Website Chatbots
- These are so handy. Visitors land on your site, have questions, and the chatbot jumps in, answering them and offering a lead magnet like, “Want a free guide? Just drop your email!”
Content Upgrades
- Blogs
- This one’s so easy. At the end of your blog, offer something extra—like a checklist, template, or guide.
- Example: “Loved this post? Grab the free Content Calendar Template we mentioned.” Done.
- Podcast
- Podcasts are perfect for this. During an episode, just mention a freebie like, “Hey, if you want the guide I’m talking about, grab it at [YourWebsite].” Instant lead magnet.
- Video Marketing
- Videos are crazy effective. Use them to promote something like, “Click the link below to grab my free checklist!” People are already watching, so it’s a natural next step.
Lead Ads
- These are ads on Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn where people can share their info without leaving the app. They’re great because there’s no friction—it’s quick, easy, and they get something valuable in return.
Collaborative Lead Generation
- Webinars
- Webinars work so well because they give so much value upfront, and all you need is their email to register. Plus, you’re building trust while you’re teaching.
- Virtual Summits
- Hosting a summit with other experts is a win-win. You bring the value, they bring their audience, and you all walk away with new leads.
- Speaking (In Person, Online, or Podcasts)
- Speaking is one of the fastest ways to position yourself as an expert and attract leads. Whether you’re presenting at a live event, hosting a virtual session, or being a guest on a podcast, you’re reaching people who are already interested in your topic. Add a simple call-to-action, like offering a free resource or inviting them to your email list, and you’ve turned those listeners or attendees into actionable leads.
Now that you’ve captured those leads, it’s time to focus on the most important part—converting them into paying customers. Because let’s face it, leads are great, but they don’t pay the bills until they become clients.
There are 7 primary ways to convert leads into customers, and the method you choose really depends on what you’re selling:
- Direct (Website)
- Online Sales Funnel
- Retargeting Ads
- Email Funnels
- Webinars or Virtual Summits
- Events or Speaking
- Discovery Calls
The key here is to match the sales strategy to the type of product, program, or service you’re offering. For example, if you’ve created a $300 digital course, you’ll likely want to use an evergreen online sales funnel—something automated that works in the background to generate sales consistently.
On the other hand, if you’re selling a high-ticket coaching program, you’ll need a more personal approach, like 1:1 discovery calls, where you can connect directly with potential clients, understand their needs, and show them the value of working with you.
Every method has its strengths, but the magic happens when you choose the one that aligns with both your offer and your audience.
Wrapping Up
I know I’ve given you a lot to take in today, but here’s the thing—your marketing plan doesn’t need to be complicated. It just needs to work.
The best marketing plan is the one you’ll actually follow. So, keep it simple. Create a basic spreadsheet or checklist with the activities you’re going to complete every day, week, or month. That way, all you have to do is check the box when it’s done.
For example, your list could look like this:
- Post 1 piece of content on social media daily.
- Send 1 email to your list every day.
- Engage with 5 comments on social media daily.
- Be a guest on 1 podcast each week.
- Speak at 1 event every month.
Whatever activities you choose for your plan, the key is to track and measure them. If something’s not working, adjust it. If it is working, double down. Consistency and tracking are your secret weapons for making your marketing plan a success.
So, take everything you’ve learned today, map out your plan, and get to work—one simple, actionable step at a time.
