Lately, I’ve been doing a bit of soul-searching and observation, both on myself and some of the amazing clients I work with. It’s about how we all tend to gravitate towards doing things that come easily to us, things that feel like second nature. But when it comes to tasks that push us out of our comfort zones, oh boy, do we love to drag our feet!

It’s funny, isn’t it? We stick to our “lanes of genius” with the things we’re good at and avoid the unfamiliar or challenging stuff. I guess it’s human nature. But here’s the kicker – especially for a bootstrapped entrepreneur: sometimes, you just can’t dodge those uncomfortable tasks. They’re not just going to disappear, no matter how much we wish they would.

Take my week, for example. There are things I love doing in my business – chatting with clients, brainstorming ideas, and all the creative stuff. But then there’s the nitty-gritty – the bookkeeping, end-of-year stuff, and the admin work – not really my cup of tea. But they’re essential, and ignoring them isn’t an option.

This got me thinking about what sets ultra-successful people apart. You know what? They’ve got this figured out. They either buckle down and learn how to get those less appealing tasks done, or they find someone who can do it for them. Delegation or determination – that’s their secret sauce.

So, here I am, trying to take a leaf out of their book. Sure, it’s not easy stepping out of my comfort zone, but hey, growth never is, right? Whether it’s tackling the task head-on or finding the right person to pass the baton to, it’s about not letting those tasks pile up and haunt me.

It’s an important conversation to have with ourselves, isn’t it? Will we let our discomfort hold us back, or will we find a way to make it work, one way or another? I’m choosing the latter. How about you?
