Ever heard that quote, “Build a life you don’t want to vacation from”? It’s stupid.
I’ve said for years that I wanted to live like I’m on vacation all the time – and now I do. But I still love to vacation.
Vacations are magical because they’re different from everyday life. That’s literally the whole point. It’s why beaches are exciting, and your bathroom isn’t.
The thing is, I used to dread coming back from vacation. The Sunday Dread would hit halfway through my flight home. My stomach would do backflips thinking about my inbox.
Now? I still get excited about vacations. But I don’t get that pit in my stomach anymore.
Because I built a business that fits MY life. Not the other way around.
I work when I want. Take breaks when I need them. And yes – I still get SUPER excited about actual vacations. I just finished planning 2 cruises for this year – one to the Bahamas and another to Alaska. I really can’t wait for the Alaska trip!
The secret isn’t building a life you never want to escape from. It’s building a life you’re happy to return to.
