OFFICIAL TRAILER
Ep 0: Shop Talk with Misty Kortes
I don’t know about you, but I remember the exact moment I was meant to do something extraordinary with my life.
I was sitting in the auditorium for my 6th-grade graduation. The teachers and staff invited all the parents in to do a ceremony and recognize the hard work of the students and congratulate them on advancing to middle school.
I remember sitting in the sea of kids watching and listening to the teachers (one by one) walk on stage and share the speech they prepared to recognize their (one) star student from their class.
Then it was my teacher’s turn…
In her speech she talked about, the student that worked hard, was liked by their peers, was considered a leader, a positive influence. A student that would go far in life.
If you would have seen me sitting there, listening intently – you would have seen me sit up a little taller with every description, thinking that she was (surely) talking about me!
My heart was racing. And I was actively visualizing myself walking up on that stage to get that award.
And then she called the name – which wasn’t mine. I……….was………crushed.
The funny thing is that I should have known I wasn’t getting the award. I had missed about 50% of the school year because my mom was struggling with mental illness and wouldn’t allow me and my brother to go to school. So, my grades were mostly D’s, E’s, and F’s. Realistically, I probably should have been held back.
But, at that moment, I sincerely thought my teacher was talking about me!
…….and she was.
SHE just didn’t know it!
But, I did.
I believe that is the way many entrepreneurs feel at some point when they realize they were meant for more.
They have a drive and desire in them to serve others that can’t be explained.
They want to make an impact in the world - and business is the way they’ll do it.
I know that this is a podcast about marketing.
And I will be sharing simple, actionable, step-by-step marketing strategies that work.
But, I think that one of the biggest hurdles in business is being ok with who you are, where you are, and leading with what you have.
It’s easy to let the lies you tell yourself stop you from stepping up and stepping into the role you know (deep down) you are destined to fulfill.
What I’m trying to say is that if your head isn’t straight, you can sabotage your success before you even begin.
Being an entrepreneur can be one of the most exciting adventures of your life. But it doesn’t come without its highs and lows. Those who feel the fear and do it anyway are the ones that succeed.
Here’s what I know…
If you’ve been blessed with skills, talents, and unique abilities that have led you to where you are in life, and the seed of greatness has been planted in you - you have the ability (and in my opinion) the responsibility to serve others with your gifts.
There are people today that need what you have. They are praying that your paths cross. They are waiting for you to find your way so that you can help them change their lives in a meaningful way.
Your success matters.
It matters to me.
I know it matters to you.
It matters to your family.
And it matters to the world.
My goal is to provide you with the coaching, guidance, tools, resources, community, and accountability you’ll need to succeed in your entrepreneurial journey through this podcast.
We are a team, and I am cheering you on!
So, let’s dive in, shall we?
